Who we are

David Koontz

David has worked in IT since 1997 in a variety of roles from network administrator at an ISP to code monkey at a large corporation to a solo consultant and entrepreneur.

He currently works as the President and founder of Happy Camper Studios, a Phoenix based product development company specializing in JRuby based GUI applications and training applications.

David’s primary interests are in making development easier through better tools and education.

His projects include the Monkeybars GUI library and the Railgun game engine, both JRuby based.

David has also been active in education, speaking frequently at local tech events like the Desert Code Camp as well as national events such as SXSW.

He currently teaches software development courses at the Art Institute of Phoenix.

Logan Barnett

Logan Barnett started development in 2000 in a real-time C++ environment.

He has also done extensive work for various Java and .NET projects.

Logan co-maintains Monkeybars (a JRuby GUI library) and Railgun (a JRuby 3D library) with David.

James Britt

James Britt has been coding professionally since 1990. His preferred language is Ruby, which he’s been using since 2001.

An active voice in the Ruby community, James has presented at Ruby conferences in the US and Europe, written numerous technical articles for publications such as Dr. Dobbs and Linux Journal, and wrote most of the Web development section in Hal Fulton’s book, The Ruby Way, 2nd ed.

James was one of the founders of Refresh Phoenix, and in 2007 started Refactor Phoenix.

James started the Phoenix Ruby Users Group in 2005, and continues to organize the monthly meetings at the HCS offices.

James also created and maintains Ruby-doc.org, the main documentation site for the Ruby language.

Jasen Moloy

Jasen is originally from Riverside, CA but came to Arizona for his undergraduate degree. Now a recent graduate from the University of Advancing Technology, he is getting his start in software engineering.

He has worked on various game projects from scratch using C++, C#, and Java. He has also working on various engines such as Hammer, Unreal 3, and Flash as well.
